New Zealand STCW Basic Training programs offered on this site are run by the Westport Deep Sea Fishing School.
We are pleased to offer to the New Zealand seafood industry the STCW basic programs in compliance with the following standards and delivery approvals from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and Maritime New Zealand.
“New Zealand STCW certificates are issued in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended (STCW).” This is the 2010 amended version of STCW95.
The STCW (Standards of Training and Certification of Watchkeepers) short course certificates are required by anyone seeking employment in the merchant navy or superyacht industry, both internationally and New Zealand. These basic programs are also required components of some Maritime NZ statuary licenses and required for seafarers in the NZ fishing industry in some key roles.
The Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is pleased to offer these programs on a rolling intake basis and with no minimum enrollment numbers so please contact us and tell us when you want to start.
We are also able to offer each program as a standalone program.

This is the required program of study for the Advanced Deckhand Fishing (ADH-F) licence required by Maritime NZ to work at sea on a NZ fishing vessel in the role of deckhand.

On completion of these maritime programs and the meeting requirements for sea time and workbook completions the Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is able to offer final MNZ exams for each licence.
